Can you help please? Thanks Colin. That is a totally different error and that fix is meant just for a specific error message. Plenty of people have ruined those drives by using the wrong firmware, that nec dvd nd 6650a Liggy wrote the warnings so explicitly. If it reads cd's but still not dvd's consistently then I would just save it for critical uses like reloading the operating system, people wear their drives out by using them too much.
